Thank You for helping me. I brought home someone who could help.
It so happened that I was using a vpn in my computer and the printer wasn't. Bottom line, it somehow prevented the printer to function properly.
Thank you all very much for your help.

Hi @Agraviada ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're experiencing connectivity issues with your OfficeJet Pro 8720 printer after upgrading to the Sonoma operating system.
Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this problem:
- Restart Your Printer: Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 1-2 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.
- Check Network Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your Wi-Fi network. You can do this by accessing the printer's control panel and navigating to the network settings. Make sure the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password are correct.
- Restart Your Router: If other devices on your network are also experiencing connectivity issues, try restarting your router. Sometimes, router glitches can cause connectivity problems for multiple devices.
- Update Printer Firmware: Visit the HP support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your OfficeJet Pro 8720 printer. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues with new operating systems. Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Reinstall Printer Drivers: Sonoma may require updated printer drivers for proper compatibility. Visit the HP website or use the HP Smart app to download and install the latest drivers for your printer.
- Reset Network Settings: If you're still experiencing issues, you can try resetting the network settings on your printer. This will erase any existing network configurations, so you'll need to reconnect your printer to your Wi-Fi network afterward.
