macOS 26.0 Tahoe

My HP Photosmart D7560 printer connects by USB.  The current HP utility apparently cannot detect USB connections.  Is there an older version that can?  It seems like I used to be able to use an earlier version with this printer.

Hi @macsaw,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

On macOS 26 “Tahoe,” HP changed how its printer software works; some older apps (like full-featured HP Utility) no longer automatically install. Here's how to get your Photosmart D7560 to work over USB:

Option 1: Install the Latest "HP Easy Start" and Full Feature Drivers

  1. Download HP Easy Start from HP’s website:
HP Easy Start printer software installation fails (macOS) | HP® Support
  2. Run it, and when prompted to install the HP app, click “Close”.
  3. Then click “Skip to software download”, which installs the HP Essential (Full Feature) Software, including HP Utility.
  4. After installation, navigate to System SettingsPrinters & Scanners, select your D7560, click Options & Supplies, then Open Printer Utility.

This setup restores full USB detection and access to features like printhead cleaning, ink-level monitoring, and alignment.

Option 2: Use AirPrint/USB-Only (No HP Utility)

If only basic printing matters to you, you don’t need the utility:

  1. Connect the printer via USB.
  2. Go to Apple menuSystem SettingsPrinters & ScannersAdd Printer.
  3. Choose your printer, and AirPrint should appear.

This gives you simple printing and scanning without HP's extra tools.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
