We had very bad print quality... HP Ink for some reason did not notify us .... but finally we talked to them... and we got all new cartridges and installed them. Still bad print quality. My wife spent 2 hours with Geek Squad... and they fixed the problem---- but only on print jobs from her computer. (Seems they reinstalled HP Smart and maybe other things.) Jobs I send from my computer print very badly... same printer! A new Geek Squad agent spent 2 hours and made no progress... and just left , saying "contact HP!). My sense is the printer is fine... but something on the computer end is still not right.

Hi @alanphyllis,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It's frustrating to deal with printing issues, but let's try to troubleshoot the problem on your computer to see if we can improve the print quality. Here are some steps you can follow.
Check Printer Settings:
- Ensure that the printer settings on your computer match the settings that were successful on your wife's computer. This includes paper type, quality settings, and color options.
Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:
- Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. You can download them from the official HP website or use the driver software that came with the printer.
Restart Your Computer and Printer:
- Sometimes, simply restarting both the computer and the printer can resolve communication issues and improve print quality.
Check for Software Conflicts:
- Ensure that there are no conflicting software or applications that might be interfering with the print jobs. Close unnecessary applications before printing.
Print a Test Page:
- Print a test page directly from the printer itself. This helps in determining whether the issue lies with the computer or the printer. If the test page looks good, it's likely a computer-related problem.
Check for System Updates:
- Make sure your operating system is up to date. Sometimes, system updates can include improvements or fixes that might address printing issues.
Uninstall and Reinstall the Printer:
- Remove the printer from your computer, uninstall the drivers, and then reinstall everything. This ensures a fresh installation and can resolve any corrupted driver issues.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware. Firmware updates can sometimes improve the overall performance of the printer.
Verify Print Quality Settings:
- Double-check the print quality settings in the print dialog box when sending a print job. Ensure it's set to the desired quality level.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
