I no longer have the HP printer. The HP software has been un-installed. I just want to get this driver out of the computer, so, it will stop disrupting my Windows Updates. I keep getting this error that it failed to install update. Seems to be a problem a lot of people are having on the internet. One person suggested this now obsolete troubleshooting windows file that hides it from the updates, but, it does not work. Install error - 0x800f020b Hewlett-Packard - USB - 58.2.1778.23178
I had the HP software installed on 3-computers and now all of them have this problem. There are no files left after the HP software was un-installed.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to see this discussion at the link below.
You may have to click on 'Retry' in Windows update several times after you hide the update on W11 and restart the PC.

Hi, Paul, I want to thank you for responding. I tried your suggestion. THIS DID NOT WORK. You'd think someone from HP would be monitoring this and respond? I will never ever buy another HP product. It's been a nightmare dealing with their technical support over the printer.
They are ill-equipped in skill or knowledge on the phone. They run through the same basic troubleshooting steps and suck up about 2-hours of your time per call. Then, they create an escalation case. Assure you they will follow-up, but, do not make a phone appt for the follow-up. Then, they call, a week later, at random times with no warning they are calling to prepare and be in front of the computer and since you were not there, they CLOSE THE CASE to get credit for the follow-up call and mark it as resolved and force you to call back and start all over again from scratch with another front line agent
I run state of the art @2024 Windows 11 computers with all the updates and no software conflicts and yet it has taken them, on average, about 2-hours a call to install their laughably named "EZ-Start" installation software on my computers. Then, after installing the software, it takes them another 30-minutes to try to configure the scanning software and it never worked properly. The scanning issues and lack of features like a searchable PDF are unbelievable considering these basic features have been in printers for years.
I am really pained by this. I have 3-computers, all new., with HP's horrible software and to fix this, it looks like the only solution would be to blow up Windows with a fresh install and reload all the software on the computers. There is probably other lingering HP software after the un-install buried in the registry and elsewhere spying on me for advertising and selling my habits, as well.
NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY AN HP PRODUCT. NEVER!!

You're very welcome.
Eventually, if the tool found the update, and you hid it, will go away after after a few normal shutdowns and restarts of the PCs during the next couple of days.
