Having tried all suggestions of removing printer from p.c., resetting printer network settings, verify password by logging onto router IP, I continue to get the message that the WPA security passphrase you configured on your HP printer does not match the WPA passphrase on the router.
I have read where others have had the same problem but have, as yet, found a solution. Does anyone have the solution?
Thank you.

@ddawg, Welcome to HP Support Community!
To provide you with an accurate solution, I would like to know the following:
- Are you able to connect other devices to the router?
- Did you check if the router firmware is updated? You can check with your ISP for the same.
- Was the printer connected before to the router?
Keep me posted for further assistance.

I am replying to TEJ1602. My printer was working with the router. My computers, phones and tv are all connected to the router. It is working fine. When attempting to change from USB connection to wifi, the software finds my router and displays the correct passphrase. Why does it fail to connect and say the passphrase is wrong?

Is your Router a dual-band(that has both 2.4Ghz and 5GHz networks)? If yes do they have the same name for both the networks or do they have different names?
The printer is compatible only with the 2.4GHz network. If both the networks have the same name, differentiate the 2 networks by providing them separate names and then try connecting the printer to the 2.4Ghz network.
You can also, try the following:
First, restore the printer's network settings by pressing and holding the Wireless button and cancel button for 3-5 seconds and releasing the buttons.
You can also use the Push button method to connect the printer to the Network.
- On the printer, press and hold the Wireless button for 3 seconds. The wireless light starts blinking.
- On the wireless router or wireless access point, press and hold the WPS button for 3 seconds.
- Wait for about 2 minutes. If the printer connects successfully, the wireless light stops blinking but remains lit.
If the issue persists, check the channel settings on the Router. Set it to either 1,6 or 11 but never auto and then try connecting the printer to WiFi.
If no go,
In the router remove and disable all security on the SSID. Now try to connect the printer to your unsecured WiFi with no password. Are you successful?
If yes, go back and put on WPA2-AES with your password and try to connect again.
Let me know what happens.
Cheers!!

my router has two settings, 2.4 and 5.0. they each have different names. the printer is logging onto the 2.4. I did reset the printer to factory settings by holding the wifi button and holding the cancel button for three seconds. I logged onto my router and set the channel to 11. Same error message when trying to connect. I tried setting up using the buttons on the printer and the WPS button on the router. No Go. the wireless light went out.
I logged onto my router and set the security to off. From there, my computer was logged off and so I couldn't do anything. I had to log onto my router with my smartphone and change the settings back to WPA2-AES.......
What else can I try and why does the HP software find my router and password but then forgets it during setup?
