Just bought this printer today and checked the warranty status. Warranty expiring on 8 December 2021 . How is that possible?

Warranty status check is from HP database by devices serial number and the date of manufacture of that specific serial number.

The HP database doesn't know you purchased your printer today if you have a valid proof of purchase you can dispute your warranty:

IF HP database doesn’t know I bought my printer today or whenever , why HP has started warranty in October 2020 and now feb 2021. Nonsense

HP Recommended

Because your printer left the HP factory in September/October 2020 and the HP database is calculating warranty start date from that period base on a product serial number. The database knows when product is manufactured, and when it left the factor to the distributor but it doen's know when it will be sold to a customer.

It's normal for product to be stored in warehouse or on a shelf of a store for a few months before sold day that is the reason of difference from database and actual warranty start date from purchase date.
