I got a new HP laptop and had trouble printing to my HP Deskjet 3755. I went to the 123.hp.com website and tried to install HP Smart to my new computer. I got an error code (HPSM922841X) and told to call [Personal Information Removed].  The message also stated that I should not restart my computer at this time. I called the number and spoke with a person identifying as HP tech support. He said he could not find the error and needed to remote connect my machine to the HP Server to see what the error actually was.. In a moment of weakness I said OK and he remoted in, running through my C drive "tree" command (twice). The first time the C prompt came back with something like it was unable to locate the printer error. He ran the "tree" command again and the C prompt came back with my computer being unable to support the printer and that HP would send a technician to correct the problem. On the phone I was asked to hold and a new person came on the line. The new person told me that they could swap out my printer for a seventy dollar fee. I said no, if I want a new printer I would get one and that I wanted their remote removed. He said he would remove it and hung up. I feel like I may be screwed at this point, but is there any way this was legitimate?
