I am still trying to find a solution for printing watermarks on this relic. I recently downloaded Libre Office and it's print manager supports watermarks if you print from it - why can't HP do something simple for once? I read about the Universal Print Driver, but you have to edit configuration files and all sorts of junk just to get the printer to do what it was designed for. I've tried asking HP when I purchased the printer, to no avail. Maybe it is time to find a replacement for this printer- I hate to do this as the M234sdw/sdwe is a compact full function scanning/printing solution.
Thanks in advance and I hope to hear from someone with a solution that works.

I tried digging through HP resources and there was nothing. I’m tired of this piece of crap - spending $100 for the extended toner cartridges for 2,500 sheets. My old Brother I could print 2500 pages and then do a cartridge refill for less than $10! The features this little beast is decent but it doesn’t do what I want, the support from HP is horrible and when I reach out to Brother they are always there when you need support. I do not recommend this printer to anyone.

@ninja661, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Printing Watermarks on HP M234sdw/M234sdwe Printers!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Printing watermarks can be a bit challenging depending on the printer model and available software. While the HP Universal Print Driver (UPD) does support watermark features, it might require more advanced configuration.
However, here are a few steps and tips to help you achieve this:
Solution using HP Universal Print Driver:
- Download the HP Universal Print Driver: Make sure you download and install the correct version of the HP UPD that supports your printer model. You can find it on the official HP support website.
- Configure Watermark Settings: After installing the driver, open the printing preferences from the printer settings in your operating system. Look for the option to add watermarks, which might require editing configuration files and manually setting watermark options.
For a more straightforward solution:
Using LibreOffice:
- Download and Install LibreOffice: Since you've already tried this and found it supports watermarks, continue using LibreOffice if it meets your needs.
- Create and Print Watermarks:
- Open your document in LibreOffice.
- Navigate to the format settings to add a watermark.
- Print your document directly from LibreOffice, leveraging its built-in watermark feature
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
