ENVY 5530
macOS 10.15 Catalina

What is the correct driver for an ENVY 5530 using Apple's Catalina 10.15.6?  HP recommends driver Version 2.9.3.01, but Apple picks 3.6.2 when it sets up the printer in Settings. Which is it?

If you are able to print fine, then why do you want to change the software? Let it be.

You may add another printer on the MAC, that will not affect the existing printer.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

@powmari, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

The ENVY 5530 is an AirPrint compatible printer. Kindly install the printer using the AirPrint drivers(recommended)

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest firmware from your MAC.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on MAC

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.

3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.

4.) Click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.

5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.

Select AirPrint from the Use menu

Under 'kind', select 'Bonjour multifunction'

6.) Try to print.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I do have the most recent software 10.15.6.and I have no printing problem . It's working fine on my desktop and devices. I just wondered if I should download a different driver. On the Apple System Preferences printer settings screen the "kind" is HP ENVY 5530 series-AirPrint. On the screen that comes up when you click on the printer, and then go to settings, the device name is "HP-ENVY_5530_series" and the Driver Version today is 2.0. I wondered if I should do anything about the driver since everything is working well. Also, I'm adding an additional, new HP wireless printer this week and wondered if that will cause any conflict when I set it up? Thank you for taking the time to help. it's appreciated.
