The printer setting have disappeared. I no longer have the option to change the print quality settings (print density, paper type, etc). It seems like a software downgrade has happened, but I hope I am just missing the new location. Please help.

I am running Mac OS Ventura version 13.6

Member,

Apologies for jumping in unannounced.

Welcome to the HP Community --

Perhaps provide a snip / screenshot of what your HP Smart application menu looks like?

1) Something I read recently indicates the Printer Settings have been moved in the MacOS version of HP Smart.

The intent was perhaps to make the MacOS version of the app look more like the iOS version. ??

For example, click on the Printer (center top of the menu) or perhaps the Green Check Mark Circle ("Printer Ready" marker)

Sorry for the odd description -- I've not seen your HP Smart Menu and am guessing about what it might look like.

2)  Much less likely - takes 30 seconds or less to check:

Does your MacOS version of HP Smart home page menu include a settings gear / wheel in the lower left corner?

If yes, open the app setting gear / wheel > Look for "Personalize Tiles" option.

If Personalize Tiles exists, open that and make sure that all the Tiles are selected.

Thank you for trying to help but that didn't work. I believe HP deleted the advanced settings option from HP Smart. However, I called HP and they suggested a workaround.

1)Select the printer

2)Under the "Advanced" tab, select "printer information"

3)Make a note of the "IP Address" of your printer

4)Open a web browser and enter you printers IP address into the address bar and hit enter.

This worked for me. I can now access the advanced printer settings. Hope this info helps someone else!

@Mr-Big-Spam

You are welcome.

Sure.  I guess I did not understand you were looking for the Embedded Web Server (EWS).

Updates / Edits

For those reading

Apparently the HP Smart app for Mac OS has been changed and no longer follows the previous standard.  ??

The Embedded Web Server (EWS) -- located in HP Smart Windows  > Printer Settings > Advanced --  is (still) available to other platforms using the browser method and the printer's IP address.

Examples

Find the printer's IPv4 IP address

Print a Configuration Page

OR

Tap on the wireless icon on the Front panel of your Printer to get the IP address

===============================================================

EWS > HP Document / How-to

Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

EWS – Browser – Tray and Paper Management

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Preferences > Tray and Paper (Management)

Select / Adjust settings for Paper Size / Type

Model Dependent:  Advanced section

Click Apply to save changes

Tray and Paper – Paper Size / Paper Type / Paper Weight

Reminder

HP Smart Mobile requires that paper size / type is adjusted before the content is opened to be printed.

Sample - EWS - Tray and Paper

Sample - EWS - IPv4 / SSID Network

All good, then,

”Carry on”.

Smiling.
