HP Chromebook 14a-na0502sa
Chrome OS

Tried setting up new HP Chromebook with Canon Pixma printer purchased a couple of years ago, but no joy. The printer is not supported by HP Chromebook apparently. I've seen similar posts asking for compatible printers, but the responses don't provide a list of model numbers. I didn't realise before buying the Chromebook that printing would be such an issue, so am hoping to avoid further hassles by selecting a Canon printer that will definitely work with the Chromebook. Can anyone provide a list of models please? I'm looking for just a basic printer/scanner/copier for infrequent use at home, so a fairly modest price point. HP must have a website somewhere that lists the compatible printer models for these devices surely?

By the way, the product name on the Chromebook's outer box is 14a-na0510sa but that doesn't exist on the HP registration website, so I had to go with 14a-na0502sa which is what I ordered.... not sure if that helps when narrowing down where I can look for suitable printers. Thanks

Hi,

HP documentation is intended for HP printers of course and not for other manufacturers.

I can see below list from your printer manufacturer which list printers supported on ChromeOS:

https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/WebPortal/PTA/pta_app_models.html?app=chromeos&lng=en&type=non

For HP printers, HP printers that support IPP Everywhere require no setup , below printer models are supported on ChromeOS with no additional drivers  as supporting IPP Printing:

https://pwg.org/printers/index.html

Thanks for your reply but it still doesn't give me a list of model numbers which will work with an HP Chromebook. I followed the link you provided HP printer setup (Chromebook) and it appears that any HP printer will connect, but from reading other threads I know this isn't the case. I don't want to buy an HP printer and be in the same situation as I am with the Canon, where I try to Add Printer, the model isn't listed so I try to Add Manually and it won't. I'll try contacting Canon and see if they can provide a list.
