I recently moved from Ireland to the USA, and brought my HP c5180 printer with me. What should I look for as far an electrical power adapter is concerned? Am using a 7.5A - 110v-250v travel adapter for my Toshiba laptop which works perfectly. Would this be ok to use with my printer or do I need an adapter  with a higher amp ; or a completely new power cord ?

The power supply adapter for your printer is dual voltage, that means that it will work from 100V to 240V without any additional power conversion.

You only need to change the power cord, because US plugs are different than in Europe.

Hi,

Don't you have the original power adapter for your printer? you will only need an adapter to a US power socket.

Its power module specifications as follows, that seems much different so I wouldn't use such a universal adapter:

0957-2105Power module (universal / worldwide) - Input voltage 100-240VAC, 50/60Hz - Output voltage 32VDC, 1.56A, 50 watts - Requires separate 3-wire AC power cord with C13 connector

Yes, I do have the original Irish powerplug. Now about finding the correct socket adapter. I'll copy your module specs and start hunting for the plug. And I agree with you that the universal adapter (which I use on my laptop) would not be a feasible choice. Thanks for your input 🙂

This is the same power nodule as you have, it is universal and intended for 110/220v input.

A power adapter would be sufficient, nothing more is needed, such as below example:
