Are there currently any multi-function laser printers available that fully support the new snapdragon architecture?  Printing AND scanning?

Hi @mm68,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The Surface Pro 10 with Snapdragon uses ARM-based architecture, which can sometimes pose compatibility issues with printers and scanners, especially older or less versatile models. However, many modern printers and scanners support a wide range of devices, including those running on ARM-based systems, thanks to updated drivers and cross-platform compatibility.

Multi-Function Printers/Scanners Compatible with ARM-based Devices

For the Surface Pro 10 with Snapdragon, here are some key considerations when selecting a multi-function printer/scanner:

Driver Support: Ensure that the printer/scanner manufacturer provides drivers that are compatible with ARM-based Windows or are available via universal printing standards like Microsoft Universal Print.

Network Printing: Consider models that support network printing (Wi-Fi or Ethernet) since this can often bypass driver issues by using generic print protocols.

Windows Compatibility: Check if the printer/scanner supports Windows 11 ARM, as the Surface Pro 10 runs Windows 11 on ARM.

Recommended Multi-Function Printers/Scanners

Here are a few HP multi-function laser printers that are likely to have broad compatibility, including with ARM-based Windows systems:

1. HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e

  • Features: Prints, copies, scans, and faxes.
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi, Ethernet, USB.
  • Compatibility: Generally well-supported with updated drivers for various Windows versions. Check specific driver availability for ARM architecture.

2. HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdw

  • Features: Prints, copies, scans, and faxes.
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi, Ethernet, USB.
  • Compatibility: Known for robust support and frequent driver updates. Verify ARM-specific driver availability.

3. HP LaserJet Pro MFP M428fdw

  • Features: Prints, copies, scans, and faxes.
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi, Ethernet, USB.
  • Compatibility: Supports a wide range of Windows devices; check for ARM-specific drivers or compatibility notes.

Checking Compatibility

HP Support Website: Visit HP’s support website to check for the availability of drivers specific to ARM-based Windows or Windows 11 on ARM. HP’s website often provides up-to-date information about compatibility and drivers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you, however I am specifically looking for a printer that supports scanning under ARM64.  In other posts I have seen the comment below, yet it does not specifically tell me how to identify a printer/scanned where scanning functions on an ARM64 Microsoft Surface.

Scanning might be more complex due to the lack of native ARM64 driver support. If the HP Smart app or any other HP scanning software is available for ARM64
