Why are there so many critical errors and display panel freezing with HP 3201dw printer. I bought 3 of these printers, 2 for our CEO and 1 for home and found that updating the firmware does not fix the problem. Yes you can hold down the power button for 30 seconds, remove the ink cartridges, unplug, restart, etc. but problems still continue with this model.

Hi @EleniV
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're dealing with a recurring issue of critical errors and freezing display panels on your HP 3201dw printers. Given that you've tried basic troubleshooting steps (like firmware updates, resetting, and unplugging the printer), the recurring problems could be due to a few potential underlying causes. Let’s explore these and possible solutions:
1. Firmware or Software Bugs
- Firmware Issues: While you’ve tried updating the firmware, sometimes known bugs or glitches are not immediately fixed by an update, or the update might have introduced new issues. The HP 3201dw, like any printer, may have firmware bugs that need targeted patches.
- Solution: Ensure that you're using the latest firmware, and if the issue persists, check if there are any known issues with the firmware version on the HP support website. You can also try downgrading to a previous version if the issue began after a recent update.
2. Network Connectivity Problems
- Since the 3201dw is a wireless printer, it could be facing network instability, leading to frozen screens and critical errors when the printer loses its connection or struggles with wireless communication.
- Solution: Ensure that the printer is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. If possible, try using a wired Ethernet connection to rule out wireless instability as a cause of the issue. Also, ensure that your router's firmware is updated and configured correctly.
3. Printer Configuration Conflicts
- Sometimes, incorrect settings or conflicts with other connected devices (such as printers installed on the same network) can cause the printer’s display panel to freeze or show errors.
- Solution: Reset the printer to factory settings and reconfigure it from scratch. Reinstall all drivers and ensure that each printer is individually configured with its own unique settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
