When I try to start HP Smart App on my PC, it will not load.  Following other hints, I uninstalled the software, but when I attempt to download, the driver from the website, I am redirected to the Microsoft Store where I get the "Try that again Page could not be loaded.  Please try again later" error message.

Welcome to the HP Community.

 

No idea "why" or what is going on - remote diagnosis of this type is nearly impossible.

 

It IS true that the HP Smart for Windows application comes from the Microsoft Store.

 

Some of the issues that can impact whether the application / store might have problems:

  • Unsupported version of Windows 10
  • Problems in the Microsoft Store
  • Application is still installed in Apps and Features - this should not be a "problem".  That said, the process can glitch on occasion, especially if there is a new version (of HP Smart) waiting to be installed and the old version of the app is still hanging around on the system.
  • Problems in Windows Printer Control - there is little to be done for this - fortunately, it is quite rare
  • Lack of a Microsoft account or, worse, lack of any login UserID and password on the computer.  Windows really dislikes this one.
  • Lack of using an administrative privileged account.  You really do have to have administrative privilege to install software or any applications into Windows.
  • Pending Windows Updates - this is not common but it can bit if Windows Updates needs to Restart the computer.  Weird things can happen after Updates have been installed but before the computer has been Restarted.
  • VPN software running - switch OFF your VPN to install.
  • Security Software blocking the installation - some security software is overly helpful.  Most security software can be told to "allow" a program / application you want to install / run.
  • Work environment blocking the Microsoft Store - there is no fix for this one.  Your IT department might lock you out of the Store as a matter of your company policy.

Settings > Apps > Apps and Features > Scroll or Search for HP Smart > Advanced Options

 

What if?

If the current version of HP Smart is / was already installed,

the Advanced options also provides Reset, Repair, and Uninstall options.

 

 

Microsoft Store - Application Updates

 

NOTE:
Disconnect from Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection before downloading.

Windows (Start) > Microsoft Store

In the upper right corner, click on the three horizontal dots ...

Select Settings > App updates > "Update apps automatically" = ON

In the upper right corner, click on the three horizontal dots ...

Select Downloads and Updates > Get Updates

 

 

HP Smart for Windows

 

HP Smart is an application available in the Microsoft Store

 

Open the Software and Drivers Support Website for your printer > Check the Box Get the App

OR Open and Read >>> HP Printers - Using the HP Smart App (Windows 10)

 

NOTES: 

  • Disconnect from Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection before downloading.
  • Turn on Wi-Fi on your computer or mobile device and connect to your network. If the computer is connected to the network with an Ethernet cable, temporarily disconnect the cable and use the Wi-Fi connection during the setup.

 

  • HP Smart requires that you sign into the application using your HP Account credentials.

 

  • HP Smart benefits (likes) having the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software installed.  For example, full driver provides access to Shortcuts and Printing Preferences.

 

  • Document includes the HP Smart application download links for Windows and Mobile devices, plus an FAQ section to assist with questions / issues.
    •  FAQ examples: 
      • What are the requirements to use the HP Smart app?
      • Which printers are compatible with the HP Smart app?
      • Why do I need to sign in or create an account to use the HP Smart app features?
      • Which languages does the HP Smart app support?
    • Older versions of the HP Smart app no longer support the required login feature.
    • Update the application to the latest version to access / use HP Smart

HINT:  Watch out for and UNCHECK unwanted extra software
