Why does my M283cdw "phone home"?

My M283cdw laser printer makes an outbound fax call periodically to phone # [content removed].  I suspect it's some kind of "report data to HP" fax, but I don't see a way to turn this off.

Any ideas?

I see that you are facing fax issues with your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw

I suggest that you follow the steps listed below to reset the printer settings to factory defaults.

1. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, swipe until the Setup menu displays. Touch the Setup icon to open the menu. 

2. Scroll to and select the Service menu. 

3. Scroll to and select Restore Defaults, and then touch OK. The printer automatically restarts.

CAUTION: Restoring the factory-set defaults returns all of the settings to the factory defaults, and it also deletes any pages that are stored in the memory. Restoring the factory-set defaults returns all of the printer and network settings to the factory defaults. It will not reset the page count, or tray size.
