Hi @Cheesy11,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP printer is displaying the status as "Asleep," it typically means that the printer has entered a power-saving mode to conserve energy. This is a normal behavior for many printers to reduce power consumption when not in use. Here are some steps you can take to wake up your printer and resolve the issue.

Check Power Connection:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to a power source.
  • Verify that the power cable is securely plugged into both the printer and the power outlet.

Press Power Button:

  • Press the power button on the printer to wake it up from sleep mode.
  • If the printer has a touch screen or display panel, tap on the screen or any button labeled "Wake" or "Power" to bring the printer out of sleep mode.

Check for Physical Issues:

  • Make sure there are no paper jams or other physical issues within the printer that might be preventing it from waking up.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer using the power button, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • This can help refresh the printer's settings and resolve any temporary issues.

Update Firmware:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP support website. Updating the firmware can address bugs or issues that may cause the printer to display incorrect status messages.

Adjust Power Settings:

  • Access the printer's settings menu and check for power-saving options. You may be able to adjust the sleep or power-saving settings to your preference.

Check Network Connection:

  • If your printer is connected to a network, ensure that the network connection is stable. Sometimes, network issues can cause the printer to display incorrect status messages.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
