Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Color LaserJet 2605dn is not printing in color, it could be due to several reasons related to the driver or printer settings. Here’s how to troubleshoot and get your printer back to printing in color:
1. Check Printer Settings:
- Ensure that the printer is set to print in color:
- Go to Devices and Printers on your computer.
- Right-click on your printer and select Printer Properties.
- In the Printing Preferences tab, check the color settings. Make sure it's set to print in color rather than grayscale or black-and-white.
2. Update or Reinstall Drivers:
- Download the latest drivers from the HP support website:
- Visit the HP Support page for the Color LaserJet 2605dn and download the most current drivers compatible with your operating system.
- After downloading, uninstall the current driver:
- Go to Devices and Printers, right-click on your printer, and select Remove Device.
- Install the downloaded driver and restart your computer.
3. Use the Generic PCL Driver:
- If the specific driver is still causing issues, you can try using the generic PCL driver:
- Go to Devices and Printers, select Add a Printer.
- Choose The printer that I want isn’t listed.
- Select Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings.
- Choose Use an existing port (like USB or TCP/IP).
- In the next screen, select HP as the manufacturer and HP Color LaserJet 2605 (or a similar model) from the list. Install it and check if it supports color printing.
4. Check for Firmware Updates:
- Make sure your printer has the latest firmware. You can check this on the HP support site as well.
5. Reset Printer:
- Perform a hard reset on the printer. Turn it off, unplug it for about a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

What driver are you using? It might be that you have a Microsoft IPP driver installed which often does not support functions like color and duplex printing.
