Why would HP have used the same serial number for two different printers?  One manufacturer in 2021 and another manufactured in 2014?   Or is this just a database is in their record keeping?  This is the second time that this has occurred with products that I purchased from HP!!    This prevents proper operation of the device, the proper registration, the proper warranty and the incorrect service provided -if one is able to get service - even when the product has just been purchased?  Is it also possible that the current functionality with their smart versions of software will prevent the device(s) from working properly when this condition exists?  I believe so.....and the team cannot seem to correct their serial number issues and the relationship to the proper customer, model number, unique piece of equipment and the integration with their evolving systems?

@Whyso2022, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand your concern. However, the serial number for 2 different printers cannot be the same.

Are you sure about this?

Refer to this document to know how to find the Product Name or Product/serial Number.

Note: Do not post the serial number in a public post.

Keep me posted.
