Out of the blue I get the message WiFi direct temporarily disconnected, the help sheet gives a URL to go to but when I type this in I get a message that there is no such URL. My printer is connected to the WiFi but HP Instant says the printer is not connected to the internet. I now cannot print anything, the help pages aren't helping.  I have turned the WiFi, printer and computer off and then on again, I have removed and added the printer to the computer but still the Information button remains on.  I have no idea what to do next

Hi @Tiber10,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can imagine how frustrating it is when your printer shows “Wi-Fi Direct temporarily disconnected”, HP Instant Ink says “Printer not connected to the internet”, and nothing prints even after you’ve restarted everything. Let’s fix this step by step.

Steps to Fix the Issue

1. Check Printer’s Wireless Status

  • On the printer control panel, confirm the blue wireless light is solid (not blinking).
  • If blinking, reconnect using the Wireless Setup Wizard
    • Set up> Network Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard.

2. Enable Web Services

  • On the printer screen:
    • Go to Setup > Web Services.
    • If disabled, turn it ON.
  • If you see an error, restore network settings:
    • Set up> Network Settings > Restore Network Defaults, then reconnect Wi-Fi.

3. Restart Devices

  • Turn off the printer, router, and computer.
  • Wait 30 seconds, then power them back on in this order:
    1. Router
    2. Printer
    3. Computer

4. Update Printer Firmware

5. Reconnect HP Instant Ink

  • Open the HP App on your PC or mobile.
  • Select your printer → Enable Web Services if prompted.
  • Sign in to your HP account and confirm Instant Ink status.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
