HP Deskjet 1051 with an iMac on OS Monterey
Other

Got a new iMac for Christmas, replacing my VERY old one from 2011.

Hooked up my HP 1051 Deskjet and though it looks like it's printing, it does not print.

Assume it's an "I need an HP printer driver'; my question is will HP come up with one for a printer as old as the 1051 or am I now stuck with a great little working printer that won't print using this OS?

Hi,

Download and install below drivers:

https://ftp.ext.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/macOS12/hp...

Once completing the installation, be sure to go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy and look in this window if you see a button to allow the HP Extention, if you see unlock the screen and allow it.

Now go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, remove any instance of your printer using the minus sign, then click the Plus sign and add a printer, select your printer and ensure the printer model is selected within the Use drop-down menu, then click Add and try printing.

@Mac4Ever

Hello,

I propose you an alternative printing driver because HP has not updated the driver of your printer since the version of macOS 10.12.

Proceed as follows, to install your printer on your Mac:

  1. Connect the USB cable to the USB port on the Mac and to the printer.

  2. Download and install the HP Printer Drivers v5.1 for OS X.

  3. On the Apple menu, click System Preferences....

  4. On the View menu, click Printers & Scanners.

  5. Click on the + sign to add the printer.

  6. Click the Name printer.
  7. In the Use field, scroll down the list to choose Select Software....

  8. In the search field type 5530, then select HP ENVY 5530 series.

  9. Click OK, and then Add.

  10. Click Continue, then follow the on-screen instructions to finish the installation.
  11. Try to print.

Do not hesitate to contact us in case of need.

Best regards,
