My HP ENVY 5540 (serial [Personal Information Removed]) was working fine about a year ago, then it stopped printing from my Dell laptop with Windows 10.
I have looked on here for a solution but there are many people with similar problems and no one clear answer how to fix this
Is there a revision level of Win10 and the driver software that works?
At the moment the printer is just a door stop & I am paying your ink subscription
HP, please provide a clear pathway to getting the printer working.

I uninstalled the printer from Devices and Cpanel, also removed the SmartHP app.
Downloaded the driver pack and reinstalled.
I rebooted the computer and connected the USB as suggested.
I can print via cable/USB which it did before but the install program did not find the printer on the network. The install program recognised the printer at its correct IP address but returned with an error after about 3minutes of attempting to install network drivers.
I am on teh same subnet, not routed/bridged to the printer.
So in conclusion, the instructions did not solve the problem and I am at the same point as before. I cannot print over the network.
Do you have a remedy?

It is now working on the network.
I left the install as it was from my doc'd attempt, disconnected the USB, switched off Bluetooth (probably unnecessary) and ran the driver installer again. The installer recognised the printer and installed
I now have wo printers in cpanel - one with a network address and the other USB.
Both work if connected.
