I have HP Desk Jet 6940 on my wireless network. I can print from Mac and my old Windows 7 computer. I cannot connect it to my new Windows 10. Computer can see the printer but does not have driver for it. I followed instructions for "Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver" but no matter what options I choose I get the list of drivers which does not have the one for HP Desk Jet 6940. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi.
If it fails to retrieve from Windows Update, please download the following drivers to your PC:
Next, extract the drivers using any archiving software such as Winzip or Winrar, right-click it and select a location to extract the file.
Open that extracted folder and copy its path.
Now repeat the Add Printer Wizard by selecting "The printer that I want isn't listed.
Select a Local Printer or a Network printer with manual settings and click Next.
Select the port of your printer and click Next.
Within the printer selection list click Have Disk, paste the driver path and press OK, then select the Deskjet 6940 printer.
Complete the wizard and try printing using the newly added print queue.

Thanks ShlomiL. I followed your instructions. When I select DeskJet 6940 printer I see window with progress bar and words "Installing printer", but right after that pop-up window with an error message appears. It says:
Printer driver was not installed.
The system cannot find the file specified
This is in spite the fact that I specified the path and selected the printer from the list. List is built from the prnhp002.inf file that is in the cabinet file you pointed me to. It looks like the drives there are kind of old (dated 2009). Is it possible that there is a conflict with Windows 10? Do you have any suggestions how to move forward? Thanks again for your attention to my problem.
