Product: Deskjet 5650
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I work in IT support and a number of users at my workplace have older HP printers including an HP 5650 Deskjet. My workplace has disabled Windows Update from downloading drivers so the built in option is not available. I have attempted to use HP EasyPrint but it can't download the driver, likely due to firewall settings.

 

Are there any alternatives for acquiring the Windows 10 drivers? Corporate IT is not going to allow Windows Update or modify the firewall.

If we can't get these printers installed I will have to advise the users to acquire new printers and it won't be HP models as I don't have this problem with any other model of printer.

Hi,

You may download the drivers from the Microsoft Update Catalog, extract it and install it using the Add Printer Wizard as described below:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03470332#AbT2

 

For your printer, download and extract below drivers:

http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/driver/drvs/2011/07/4753_fc148f3df197a4c5cf20bd6...

 

When adding the printer, browse to the extracted folder and then select the HP Deskjet 5600 Series option.

Many thanks Shlomi. I'm very happy to be able to save some printers from hitting landfill. I do wish the HP page for the printer offered this option but am grateful for your assistance.
