Color Laserjet CP2025
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I installed a new SSD and replace window 7 with windows 10 pro 64-bit.

Now windows 10 won't find the Color Laserjet CP2025 printer that is connected with USB cable.  I hear a windows dicovery ding when pluging or unpluging the printer into the USB port (both USB 2 and USB 3 ports)

I try the HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL6 (64-bit) and it acts like it's installing, but take a few seconds and says finished.  But no CP2025 printer listed.

I have two other HP printers in the house for other family members that are wi-fi that were picked up and pre-installed during windows 10 setup.  One laser and one inkjet.  Both work great.

I even installed the HP Assistant and it doesn't find it either.

Is there any other way to setup this printer for windows 10?

This was working flawlessly in windows 7 for several years.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

On the computer that had the Win 10 Pro upgrade ONLY,  you probably  need to redownload/reinstall  the printers software/drivers.  The download link will replace the printer's software.

Here is a HP Support link for that.  Click on "Software and Drivers" , click on go, click on download.  It should find the  computer and download/ install the HP 2025  printer's software and drivers.  A driver is simply part of the software.

The HP 2025 printer's software is individually downloaded/installed on each computer device with it's particular printer software.  I'm assuming the other two computers did not have any OS upgrades?   They still have their printer software intact.  Good luck.  I am not an HP employee.

It was a fresh install of win 10 pro.  I never upgrade an old version.  I've never had good luck when doing so.  So I always just wipe the system.  I only did it this time as the SSD failed on me.  So I figured win10 had enough time to mature.

Anyway,  I just found it odd that the install app couldn't even find the printer.  not even the online hp solution app.

I get the feeling this printer has lost support for win 10 and instead of saying it isn't supported anymore, it just doesn't discover it and leaves one feeling it is brocken and needs replaced.

I tested on another PC with win 10 and same issue.  This kind of confirms that it isn't supported in win 10 any longer.  I just wish they'd admit it instead making me waste my time installing something that won't install.

Hello Mark,  Unfortunately, i did not include the HP Support link.  Please try it and respond if that works.

I see at this link that the 2025 is supported.  It also has the link for downloading the printer's software.

It is the printer's software that needs to be downloaded/installed onto the computer, not the other way around.  The Win 10 does not supply the printer's software.   A thumbs up is appreciated and Good luck !!
