HP Officejet 3831
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Microsoft's 6-monthly feature updates are part of Microsoft's program for "Windows 10 as-a-service".

For me, this most recent upgrade has resulted in printer errors, loss of colour printing, and a considerable amount of time spent in uninstalling my printer software and drivers and subsequent reinstallation, as well as a loss of part of my HP Instant Ink quota of prints due to spoiled print runs.

Is this situation going to continue, or will HP printer software check for Windows Feature Updates and automatically resolve problems, or is this going to be impossible to manage?

@Flyboytim

I am sorry this happened to you.

You are right - Windows Updates can be hard on the File System.  Not an "HP" issue, issues after a Windows Update is something than can happen to any software on any brand computer.

In the general sense, "it is going to continue".

Most of the time, for most people, Windows Updates install as they ought and life goes on.  HP and other manufacturers work closely with Microsoft to mitigate damage when issues arise and to prevent problems before they happen.  It is an imperfect arrangement.

I do recommend that you contact Instant Ink Support in your region, explain the issue, and ask for help to realign your subscription after the chaos.  Instant Ink Support staff is available by phone, or in some areas, via Chat.

 Option - Look for your Contact Information in your Instant Ink Account > Help Center
