Samsung 2830dw laser printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I have used my Samsung 2830dw on my network for years.  No problems.  This week I have been preparing a new laptop that runs Windows 11 - my first Windows 11 machine.  I have tried everything I know to install the drivers for my Samsung printer.  But, I keep getting this error when I try the installation:

Error 0X8000214 - The Specified path does not contain any applicable device INFs

I have no idea what to do at this point.  I can't find any drivers that say they are for Windows 11 specifically.  My other computers on this network (Windows 10) have never had a problem.  Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

@Lucky432x, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Error 0X8000214 – Driver Installation Issue for Samsung 2830dw on Windows 11!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Error 0X8000214 typically indicates that the driver files you are attempting to use are not compatible or recognized by the system for your Samsung 2830dw laser printer on Windows 11. Here are some steps to help resolve this issue:

Verify Compatibility: Ensure that the driver you are attempting to install is specifically suitable for Windows 11.

Download Latest Driver:

  • Visit the HP support website or Samsung Printer drivers page to download the latest driver version for your printer that is compatible with Windows 11.
  • Use the following link for the latest drivers: Samsung Printer Drivers

Manual Driver Installation:

  • Unzip the Driver Package: If the driver file is in a compressed format (zip), extract it to a known location.
  • Device Manager: Open Device Manager on Windows 11.
    • Right-click the Start button and select "Device Manager".
    • Locate the printer under "Printers" or "Other devices".
    • Right-click the printer and select "Update driver".
    • Choose "Browse my computer for drivers".
    • Point to the folder where you extracted the driver files and ensure the subdirectories option is checked.
    • Proceed with the installation.

Add Printer Wizard:

  • Open the "Settings" application from the Start Menu.
  • Navigate to "Devices" and then to "Printers & scanners".
  • Click on "Add a printer or scanner".
  • If Windows does not automatically find your printer, click on “The printer that I want isn’t listed”.
  • Choose "Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname" or "Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings".
  • Enter the IP address of the printer.
  • When prompted for the driver, use the "Have Disk" option and navigate to the extracted driver folder.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Thank you so much for the detailed suggestions.

I have tried them.  Everything points in the same direction.  No matter how I attack the issue, the driver installation itself fails with the same error every time.  Given that I have used the latest drivers and installation software, I can only assume from their dates of creation that the driver is not updated for Windows 11.

I will abandon the installation efforts and just purchase a different printer that is known to be compatible with Windows 11.

Again, your help is very much appreciated.
