Hello -- Just purchased a new W11 desktop computer. It seems to work fine, except I've had zero luck trying to get it to see the USB connected HP8610 AIO printer. The system has worked quickly with all other USB devices (Audio, visual, even an old ipod), but it appears to totally ignore the printer. I've gone through multiple checklists as W11 and printers seem to be a problem area (i.e. rebooted system and printer; switched cables, ports; installed/uninstalled drivers, HP Smart). Also tried an old W10 HP workstation that had never been connected to the printer before -- and it was merrily printing away in a few minutes.
So ... any tips or suggestions? I'll give this another couple of days, but returning the computer to Costco and trying another vendor is moving up the list of possible solutions.
Thank you,
Kurt

Hi @kupagu.
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I understand that you are unable to connect your printer to your windows 11 pc. I'd like to help!
Please follow the steps below.
Uninstall the printer driver from root level and reinstall the driver.
Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.
• In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
• Select your HP printer.
• Select Uninstall.
• In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
• In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
• Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
• Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
• Click on Drivers tab.
• Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
• Select OK.
• Remove all instances of the same.
• Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
• Close Devices and Printers.
• Restart the PC again
Once done, install the full feature driver. Click here
(Note: Don't connect the USB cable in until prompted during the install)
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hello -- I had previously tried the steps, but I'll give them another try tomorrow. I'm currently using wireless to connect and that works as expected, but since the printer sits right next to the workstation, I'd prefer to use USB (based on my experience, USB seems to initiate a print job quicker and pauses less during the actual print).
Thank you,

Hi @ kupagu,
Thanks for your reply. I understand why you want to use USB during a print job. However, do keep me posted once you try the recommended steps and how it goes. Have a great day!

Went through the steps twice. Also deleting HP Smart both times, and turning off the printer wireless. It just never sees the printer hardware when connected via USB. The link you had provided is for installing HP Smart, which feels like a real blob of overhead software, when all I really need is the full feature driver. HP Smart just feels like it gets in the way.
I also tried just skipping the HP Smart path, and just downloading the driver directly -- but when it says connect the USB....nothing happens.
So I guess I'll just live with the wireless access and spend the rest of my life wondering why an HP PC can't talk to an HP Printer.......
Thanks anyway.

Hi @kupagu
Thanks for your reply.
We can perform a factory default on the printer to resolve the issue
The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Support Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
