HP Officejet J6480 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I upgraded to a Windows 11 laptop and it won't communicate with my OfficeJet J6480. My older Win 10 laptop does with no problems. Any sources for the correct drivers? Thanks.

Hi @Edgarmoo,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're encountering compatibility issues between your Windows 11 laptop and your Officejet J6480 printer, the first step would be to ensure that you have the correct drivers installed. Here's what you can do.

  • Windows Update: Sometimes, Windows Update can automatically download and install the necessary drivers for your printer. Make sure your Windows 11 laptop is connected to the internet and check for any pending updates.
  • HP Support Website: Visit the HP support website and search for the drivers for your Officejet J6480 printer compatible with Windows 11.
  • Driver Installation: If you find the drivers on the HP support website, download them to your Windows 11 laptop and run the installation process. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
  • Compatibility Mode: If the drivers you downloaded are not specifically designed for Windows 11, you can try installing them using compatibility mode. Right-click on the driver installation file, select "Properties," go to the "Compatibility" tab, and check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and choose Windows 10 from the dropdown menu.
  • Windows Compatibility Troubleshooter: Windows has a built-in troubleshooter that can help identify and fix compatibility issues. You can access it by searching for "Troubleshoot" in the Windows search bar, selecting "Troubleshoot settings," and then running the "Compatibility troubleshooter."

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the compatibility issues between your Windows 11 laptop and your OfficeJet J6480 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
