I need to purchase a desktop printer which can talk to a Schneider HMIDT732 HMI which has a windows 7 embedded driver.

Schneider have advised that prior to obtaining the printer I need to check with the manufacturer of the Printer that it supports a Windows 7 Embedded operating system and printer driver PCL5

Would all HP printers accomodate this requirement. Looking to spend between £50-200

Hi,

Not all HP printers accommodate this requirement, only selected HP Laserjet Pro or HP Officejet Pro printers support the PCL5 print language and almost afraid no current products support a such, PCL5 is supported by older models and been quite discontinued.

current HP product supports PCL XL (PCL6) or Postscript only

Also be aware that a Windows 7 embedded is a highly customized operating system version, none HP software applications officially support Windows 7 embedded and this highly depends on your OS customization features, your OS provider will be able to tell you what is supported or not, as it is unknown which Windows 7 features are included in your OS and the HP software is provided as-is.

The only current model I could find at hp.co.uk to match the price range and support PCL5 is the following (a single function monochrome USB only printer) HP LaserJet P2035 Printer Black & White Printer:

https://store.hp.com/UKStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=CE461A&opt=B19&sel=PRN

You may also look for older models remain in stock, used, etc. but knowing your needs would be much help (e.g. monochrome or color, duplex printing needs, a printer only, with a copier or fax, USB or network, etc.)

HP UPD 6.1.0 was the latest version to support PCL5, it can be downloaded below for 32 or 64 bit OS:

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/UPD/hp-upd-6.1.0.20062/

Please consider this information, there might be surprises with Windows 7 embedded to lack of features from your customized operating system.
