I was tring to print a document from Open Office but it wouldn't print from HP or any other printer on my list. Yet it perfectly printed  'Windows Printer Test Page'

It printed if I used snip and skektch, so I got it done but in a weird format (hadn't used it before)

What could be the glitch? Thanks

Hi @Orange_dog25, Welcome to HP Support Community.👋

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It looks like your HP DeskJet 2130 is recognized by Windows but isn't working properly with certain applications. Since it printed a Windows Printer Test Page and worked with Snip & Sketch, the issue might be software-related rather than a driver or hardware problem. Here are some possible causes and solutions:

Possible Causes:

Default Printer Misconfiguration – Your printer might not be set as the default, causing certain applications to send the job to a different printer.

Print Spooler Glitch – The Windows print spooler might be stuck, preventing proper communication between OpenOffice and the printer.

Application-Specific Issue – OpenOffice might not be sending print jobs correctly, possibly due to incorrect settings or a software bug.

Corrupt Printer Driver – The driver might be partially corrupted, allowing some functions to work but not others.

Print Format Compatibility – OpenOffice might be trying to print in an incompatible format or paper size.

Solutions:

1. Check Default Printer Settings

>Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.

>Select HP DeskJet 2130, click Manage, and set it as the default printer.

>Try printing again.

2. Restart the Print Spooler

>Open Run (Win + R), type services.msc, and press Enter.

>Find Print Spooler, right-click, and select Restart.

>Try printing again.

3. Test Printing from Another Application

>Since Snip & Sketch worked, try printing from Notepad or WordPad.

>If it works, the issue is likely with OpenOffice.

4. Check OpenOffice Print Settings

>Open OpenOffice, go to File > Printer Settings.

>Ensure HP DeskJet 2130 is selected.

>Go to File > Print, click Properties, and check for any unusual settings.

5. Reinstall the Printer Driver

>Go to Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).

>Expand Printers, right-click HP DeskJet 2130, and click Uninstall device.

>Restart your PC and let Windows reinstall the driver automatically.

>Alternatively, download the latest driver from the HP support website.

6. Try a Different File Format

>If the document is in .odt, try saving it as a .docx or .pdf and printing from another app.

I hope this helps. 😊🖨

Take care and have a good day. 😇
