Dear HP / Support teams,

I am TienYew . Having difficulties to reset the Embedded Web Server password.

Browsed through Google and HP Forum , and tried the method

1.   Reset Network setting -  Press Wifi Icon + (X) button for 3 seconds - Not working

2.  Pressed Power & Press (X) button for 6 times - Not working

3. HP doctor & scanner - Prompt Password again - Not Working

So most likely need to perform a full factory reset . I believe the full factory reset is confidential.

Is there anyone can PM me and share the factory reset procedure to me ?

Thank you

Hi @TIENYEW,

I'd like to help!

I understand you are trying to restore the printer administrator password.

We can perform a factory defaults on the printer to resolve the issue

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
  • In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Support Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I just want to share my experience to all other HP printer users.

Firstly,  I dont think HP forum support technician  or HP Customer service support technician possess all the service information of the printer.

Even they guided me to press specific buttons to perform hard reset it failed .  Until I realized I need to press the specific button and hold the button until the power LED stays static then the Printer reset itself but after that the WIFI button is no longer can be activated.

Not sure why HP hides the service information from us, reset the Web server password should be as easy as reset a password in the router. Perhaps the technology of this printer is came from Area51 ?
