Set-up tip: After 10+ hours and 3 tech support phone calls later (2 with HP and 1 with our internet provider), we finally had a break-through. Our internet provider technician off-handedly mentioned that the only other thing they could think to ask HP (after exhausting the checklist that HP provided to ask our internet provider) was whether the printer can only operate on a WPA2 network encryption (and not WEP, which ours was initially). When I called HP back and asked, the HP technician said: "Yes"; the HP Envy printer can only operate on a WPA2 network encryption with TKIP/AEF (another sub-setting). I had not seen this referenced anywhere previously during my troubleshooting -- hopefully this will help some of you!
So, when trying to set-up your HP Envy 6000 series printer wirelessly, ensure your internet network's encryption is set to WPA2 and TKIP/AEF -- I was able to do this manually through a web browser relatively easily. Otherwise your network will have issues connecting with your printer. If you're unsure how to do this, try contacting your internet provider. Also, the printer only operates on wifi with a 2.4 GHz frequency band.
FYI: Your wifi password may then be a different one, so just make sure you also have access to your internet account (we did via an online login) so you can reference the WPA2 encryption's password. Then you can create a customized wifi password afterwards if preferred.
