This is driving me mad.  I have installed new software.  My laptop can see my printer during the installation.  They are both on the same network - but when you come to print, the printer is not connected.  So I cant print.  The HP virtual assistant doesnt help as you follow steps and come to the same dead end.  And of course customer support on 0800 474 6836 turned the phones off long ago.  Was good but all has changed since an update.

@M1serable-Me Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are unable to connect wireless.

Pelase restore n/w settings and reconnect the printer to the network

1.      Turn off the Router, Printer, and computer/ mobile devices.

2.      Wait for 60 seconds.

3.      Turn on the Router first and wait for all the lights to stabilize.

4.      Turn on the printer and allow it to configure itself.

Make sure the printer and the PC/Phone are connected to the same wireless network.

·         This printer supports only 2.4GHz networks. So, the PC should be on the 2.4GHz network.

·         If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

Step 1: Prepare for installation

Before installing the printer software and connecting to your wireless network, check the requirements, turn on the computer and the router, and set up the printer.

  1. Gather the following items:

    • Network name: The network name is the SSID.

    • Network password (WEP key or WPA security passphrase)

    • A computer connected to your wireless network

    • Internet access (recommended): HP recommends broadband Internet access such as cable or DSL.

    • Your wireless-capable printer: Place your printer close to the computer during the installation.

  2. Make sure the printer, router, and computer are all turned on and the computer is connected to the same wireless network to which you are connecting the printer.

  3. Set up the printer, load paper into the input tray, and install the toner cartridges. For more information about setting up the printer, go to First Time Printer Setup.

  4. Disconnect any USB or Ethernet cables from the printer.

Step 2: Connect the printer to the wireless network

Use the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer to connect it to your wireless network.

  1. From the home screen on the printer control panel, swipe the display to the left, and then touch Setup.

  2. Swipe up on the display, touch Network Setup, touch Wireless Menu, and then touch Wireless Setup Wizard.

The printer searches for available wireless networks.

  3. Touch the name of your network, and then follow the instructions on the control panel to connect the printer to your wireless network.

After the printer connects to the network, the wireless light is on and steady.

Step 3: Download and install the print driver

Download and install the most current version of the full feature printer software from the HP website.

note:

As an alternative method to downloading the software, you can use the installation CD.

  1. Disconnect any USB cables from the printer.

  2. Go to 123.hp.com/laserjet, and then click Download to download and run HP Easy Start.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the connection setup and driver installation.

    • If HP Easy Start finds multiple printers, select the printer you want to install, and then continue with the on-screen instructions.

    • If HP Easy Start does not find your printer, follow the on-screen instructions to connect your printer to the network.

If the installer still does not find your printer, go to Printer Not Found During Network Driver Setup (Windows) for detailed troubleshooting steps.

  4. Return to the 123.hp.com page in your web browser to complete the printer registration and activation.
