HP OfficeJet Pro 8132e All-in-One Printer

I have a new (3 weeks old) OfficeJet Pro 8130e.   It's giving me all sorts of niggling little problems, but the latest is that it has suddenly been unable to print duplex (it printed duplex OK to start with).   What can I do to deal with that please?   I am using a Windows 10 PC and my word processor is Lotus WordPro.

Thank you.

Further experimentation reveals that while the printer will duplex print with A4 paper, it will not do so with A5 paper even though I am sure I have changed all the necessary settings.

Any suggestions please?

Hi @dibby20159,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've already done some troubleshooting, but here are a few more steps you can try to resolve the duplex printing issue with A5 paper on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8132e:

1. Check Printer Settings

  • Paper Size: Ensure that the paper size setting in your printer's properties matches the paper you're using. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click on your printer, select Printing Preferences, and verify the paper size settings.
  • Duplex Settings: Verify that duplex printing is enabled in the printer settings. This is usually found under the Finishing tab or similar in the Printing Preferences.

2. Check Application Settings

  • Lotus WordPro: Confirm that Lotus WordPro is set to print duplex. Go to the print dialog within WordPro and ensure duplex printing is selected. Sometimes applications have their own settings that override printer settings.

3. Update Printer Drivers

  • Driver Update: Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed. Visit the HP website and download the latest drivers for your OfficeJet Pro 8132e.

4. Check Paper Tray Settings

  • Paper Type: Ensure that the paper type and size settings in the paper trays match what you are using. Sometimes the printer may have issues if it detects a mismatch.
  • Tray Configuration: Double-check that the paper is correctly loaded in the tray and that the tray is properly adjusted for A5 paper.

5. Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Update Firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes updates can fix bugs related to printing functionalities. You can usually find firmware updates on the HP website or through the HP Smart app.

6. Perform a Printer Reset

  • Reset Printer: Try resetting the printer to its factory settings. This can sometimes resolve configuration issues. Refer to the printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

7. Test with Other Software

  • Alternative Software: Try printing a duplex document from a different application (e.g., Adobe Acrobat or Microsoft Word) to see if the issue is specific to Lotus WordPro.

8. Check for Paper Jams or Feed Issues

  • Inspect for Jams: Make sure there are no paper jams or obstructions in the printer that could be causing issues with duplex printing.

Refer to this document: HP OfficeJet Pro 8130e All-in-One series User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
