HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2515 All-in-One Printer

Connected to my laptop via USB cord

I am able to use the scanner, but whenever I want to print something, I see  the message

Waiting for printer to become available

Screenshot 2024-10-05 at 9.52.40 AM.png

An issue I have found is when I went to HP utility and checked general information, it said the driver was the HP inkjet 9 driver 2.18.0.

Hi @kalpeshbalar,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I can imagine how frustrating it must be to see the "Waiting for printer to become available" message when everything seems connected properly, especially when the scanner is working fine. It feels like you’re so close, but just can’t get that final step to work smoothly.

  • Have you recently updated your operating system or made changes to your computer that could have affected the printer driver?
  • Are you using the original USB cable that came with the printer, or have you tried another cable to rule out connection issues?
  • Is the printer showing any warning lights or error messages on its display panel that might help identify the issue?

Let's try these steps.

  • Go to Devices and Printers on your computer and check if your HP Deskjet 2515 is listed as the default printer and not showing as “offline.”
  • Ensuring the printer is properly recognized can resolve the issue of it being "unavailable."

  • Uninstall the current printer driver and download the latest driver available from HP’s website. Follow the instructions to reinstall.
  • The HP Inkjet 9 driver may be outdated or incompatible, and reinstalling a fresh version could fix the communication error.

  • Try connecting the printer using a different USB port or cable, especially if the current port or cable might be faulty.
  • A faulty cable or USB port could prevent proper communication between your laptop and printer.

  • Open the print queue (from Devices and Printers) and clear any pending jobs. Restart both the computer and printer afterward.
  • A stuck print job can prevent new jobs from being processed.

  • Use the Windows Printer Troubleshooter to automatically detect and resolve common printer issues.
  • This tool can often identify underlying problems and offer solutions specific to your system.

Hopefully, one of these steps will get your printer working again soon!

I have connected to printer to multiple computer/laptops (Windows & Mac) and it still won't work.

I have also replaced the connection cable.

I have also tried to install driver from the link provided but it always install HP Easy Install application which is also not very useful.
