x677
Microsoft Windows 11

I just received my new x677+ printer with the stapler/stacker and I'm having trouble getting anything to print to anywhere but tray 1.  I've read through so many articles but nothing matches the GUI that's installed.

When I log in through the IP, I have 3 options: Function, Mailbox, and Mailbox/Stacker.  I've tried all 3 and nothing gets me to output bins 3/4.  If it's mailbox dependent, where do I assign my mailbox to the stacker outputs?

The Job Offset is On.

Ejection Mode is set to Optimize for Job Availability, the other choice is Optimize Performance.

I've updated the firmware and installed every driver on the download page.

Print yourself a configuration page to confirm that the sapler/stacker is connected and recognised.

From the printer screen, go to Troubleshooting -> Diagnostics test -> Paper path test  you can choose number of copies source tray, and if available for an output bin select 3 or 4 and run several copies of test to confirm that hardware is OK.

Valsimot, the report prints and passes through the stacker.

Sorry to jump in @Valsimot, but we have seen this issue numerous times and usually the driver has failed to detect the presence of the finisher. First off, optimized printing support comes from the Smart UPD driver, but you will need to do the following on the workstation if it is not working. On the PC go to control panel>devices and printers and right click on the icon for the printer and select printer properties from drop down menu. Click on device settings and find output options and select the correct type of finisher.

I changed the Optional Output Bin to HP Job Separator Bin from HP Stacker Bin and enabled Job Separator at the bottom but it didn't help.  I've now run into a new issue and will start a new thread and come back to this one later.  It's about the GUI not choosing the correct drawer for multi-page printing and staying on letterhead drawer 4.  This new GUI is frustrating.

Need to take one step back for clarity. Do you have in internal finishing setup or the external finishing?  Either way there are only 3 output bins available. The demo unit I am connected to has the external finisher setup. These two devices differ slightly so rather than blindly posting back and forth, let us get on the same page and hopefully resolve your issue.

To clarify, I am using the HP Smart UPD driver version 4.08.1 on a Windows 11 workstation. My demo unit is an X677Z with external finisher attached.

I agree that initially the new SUPD interface feels very odd, but I have found that as I use it more it becomes much less disturbing.
