First time getting stuck with the Z 10 replacement ink jets that are incompatible. No online fix? I get automatic HP updates several times a week, why not one to cure this problem? Printer firmware update will not install. Help! Time to toss all my HP equipment in the trash? Where is the customer support, i don't have time to deal with staff that don't even know about this problem.

Hey there! @stu1-_,

Have you relocated to a different country?

Effective January 2017, HP 950 and 951 ink cartridges have new markings on the packaging and cartridge label. The cartridges are marked with a Z10, Z20, Z30, or Z40.

The new cartridges are genuine HP products. They provide the same high-quality prints as earlier cartridges. The new cartridges are regionalized, which means your printer only accepts cartridges intended for use in your area.

The new regionalized ink cartridges help protect you from HP ink cartridges sourced through non-official distribution channels, for which HP cannot control transportation and storage conditions. This helps ensure quality and decreases the chances of an ink cartridge being counterfeit.

Refer this article to know more information about using Z ink cartridges. Click Here

Also, if you still have issues after trying out the steps. You need to perform a printer regionalization.

To perform printer regionalization you can contact HP FB support team. Click Here

Hope this answers your query!

I hope you have a great day! 🙂

Thanks for your reply. Called support, their system was down and was told ALL my ink jets need to be replaced with the Z10 type before i call back. I still beleive this is just a money grap by HP. I have always used genuine HP products for 25+ years and still live in the USA. I will be replacing all my equipment with other brands as it fails. HP is dead to me.

@stu1-_

Thanks for responding, You can try contacting them now and you need to perform a printer regionalization in order to use the Z10 ink cartridges on the printer.

Also, you will need the old ink cartridges before doing regionalization.

As I suggested, please contact HP Facebook support for more information about performing a printer regionalization. Click Here

Have a blessed day ahead!

Take Care! 🙂
