Hello I just acquired an OMEN by HP - 17-w253dx , I upgraded from os version 1607 to 1703 build 15063 by running a new installation .Now I can't install coolsense because i keep getting the error message "this setup requires the .NET Framework version v3.5" however a higher version of the .net framework got installed during the OS upgrade.Secondly when I attempt to activate windows I get an alert "your version of windows is being upgraded" when I just want to activate windows .Please I need help asap, thanks.

Thank you for responding,
It's great to have you back 😉
The version I had provided supports the .Net Framework v3.5,
If it hasn't been working for you, I recommend following the below steps:
- Open windows Control Panel and in the top right, next to View by: select 'Large Icons'. From the new layout, select Programs and Features.
- Click on Turn Windows features on or off in the left hand pane.
- When this window has loaded, enter a check mark against .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0) then click Ok and follow through the procedure to install this.
When this has completed, restart the notebook.
Keep me posted,

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂
I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.
As I understand you have trouble with activation and cool sense setup,
No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
Did you know that cool sense is a passive software and works to automatically manage the system fan, etc...?
That said, did you change your OS by installing a retail copy of windows on your PC and then update to the 1703 build or is it that you have updated the HP Shipped Windows to the 1703 build and now you have a activate windows error?
The above question will decide the fate of your query, considering HP does not recommend using a retail copy of windows to upgrade or update the OS, if the issue occurred after installing a retail copy of windows, you will need to contact the store or person you got the retail copy from or alternatively, make use of the recovery media to switch back to the OEM (Factory shipped OS😞 Click here to obtain a recovery media
If you are using the Factory Shipped OS, the activation shouldn't arise as the product or activation key is integrated into your BIOS system, if it's occurring the issue could be due to a OS/Bios file corruption and hence I recommend you perform a system refresh: Click here for instruction.
Let me know if those steps worked for you,
If they did, that's awesome!

Hi
I changed my OS by wiping the one the laptop came with and installed an updated version which I downloaded from microsoft's website.Does HP not have a coolsense software that supports a higher version the .net framework ??

Thank you for responding,
It's great to have you back 😉
Here's the latest version of the Coolsense software,
Download and install the latest version of HP CoolSense from the HP CoolSense Technology download site (Version 2.2)
NOTE:
HP CoolSense requires accelerometer and thermal control hardware only available on select computers.
(by the end of this document, all the issues should be resolved)
Please understand that this is a passive application and manages the fan/cooling system on its own, none of the settings can be tweaked using this program.
I hope you have a good day ahead,
And Feel free to ask any other queries as well,
Considering, this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.
