Photosmart 5524 inkjet printer
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Photosmart inkjet 5524 printer.

It had the configuration source "AutoIP" and wouldn't communicate with the laptop.

I unplugged the router, waited  plugged in

switched off the printer, waited, switched on, waited, printed the "wireless network test results". it showed DHCP and printed.

Next time I tried to print, it had a different IP address which I had to change from control panel.

Help please, I'm don't know what I'm doing and just want it to print every time. why, how did the IP address change?

Thanks for reading this.

If the printer is connected to the network, you might be able to use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to manage and configure your printer, including the network settings.

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

tab Network > Wireless (802.11) > IPv4 Configuration

Example - Officejet Pro 8630 - Network > Wireless (802.11) > IPv4 Configuration
