Hi @boibau,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP LaserJet M1212NF MFP Printer Connection on Apple Mac Pro M4!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

1. Verify Printer and Software Compatibility

  • HP Compatibility: Ensure that the HP LaserJet M1212NF MFP is compatible with macOS running on your Mac Pro M4.
  • Driver Compatibility: Confirm that you are using the latest drivers suitable for your Apple Silicon M4.

2. Download and Install Latest Drivers

  • HP Support: Visit the HP Software and Drivers page and search for your printer model (HP LaserJet M1212NF MFP).
    • Select macOS as your operating system and download the latest drivers and software.

3. Manually Add Printer Using macOS Printer Settings

  • Add Printer: If HP Smart or automatic detection does not work, manually add the printer using the steps below:
    1. Open System Preferences: Click on the Apple menu and select System Preferences.
    2. Printers & Scanners: Click on Printers & Scanners.
    3. Add Printer: Click the + button to add a printer.
    4. Select the Printer: Select the HP LaserJet M1212NF MFP from the list of available printers. Ensure Select Software is chosen from the Use: dropdown and not AirPrint.
    5. Install: Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the printer setup.

4. Enable AirPrint (if applicable)

  • AirPrint Setup: If your printer supports AirPrint, you may alternatively set it up using AirPrint.
    • Ensure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac.
    • Follow the previous steps in the Add Printer section but select AirPrint from the Use: dropdown.

5. Check Network Settings

  • Network Configuration: Ensure that both your printer and Mac are connected to the same network.
  • Reset Network Settings: You might need to reset the printer’s network settings and reconnect it to your Wi-Fi network.

6. Update macOS

  • Software Update: Ensure that your macOS is up to date as Apple regularly releases updates that may include enhanced compatibility and support for peripherals like printers.
    • Go to System Preferences -> Software Update and confirm your Mac is running the latest version of macOS.

7. Reset Printer System

  • Reset Printing System: Sometimes, resetting the printing system on your Mac can help resolve any issues.
    • Go to System Preferences -> Printers & Scanners.
    • Right-click (or ctrl-click) in the printers list and select Reset printing system...
    • Confirm the reset, then try adding the printer again.

I hope this helps.
