I have even reset this printer and it still gives me the same error. I do have it set up on instant ink and it shows to be active in this side of things, but it still will not show in my dashboard

Welcome to the HP Community --

What kind of "Dashboard"?

Several Examples included below...

==============================

HP Instant Ink

Reminder to those reading -

Instant Ink is a Print-by-Page subscription model.

Ink -- whether you use a little or a lot -- is included in your monthly subscription plan.

You are paying for Pages printed - NOT the ink used to print those pages.

Yes, the subscription is billed monthly and not "if used".

============================

Any issue related to how / where / whether the printer is working as it relates to your Instant Ink account...

What to do?

Contact Instant Ink Support --

Ask about current promotions and / or any issues you have now.

OR

Wait in the Community for an agent to find and respond to your question(s).

HP Smart / HP Connected

If you are referring to the HP Smart / HP Connected Dashboard, the serial number is typically not necessary -- the purpose of this Dashboard is to manage Printers added to Print Anywhere, and possibly where the service is still supported, ePrint

Used with HP Smart app

==============================

HP Account

If you are referring to the Dashboard in your HP Account, while much older devices added long ago might persist until removed, "no longer new" devices (computers / printers) might refuse to be added after the Warranty on that device has expired.

Deemed inconvenient by some, the refusal of the Dashboard to add expired devices does not impact whether or how you use the product.

==============================

HP Support Assistant (HPSA)

If you are referring to adding the product to HP Support Assistant, generally a device the age typical of this printer model should allow itself to be added.

That said, the printer is well out of Warranty -- there is no actual value in adding the printer to the HP Support Assistant.

The rare occasion when a printer of this age might be provided updates of any kind (drivers / firmware) can easily be checked manually.

If the printer won't add to HPSA you can try uninstalling the HPSA app, Restart the computer and log in > Get a new copy of the HPSA from its website:   If that works, all good.

"Get" and install a new copy of the app from Download HP Support Assistant
