Microsoft Windows 11

My HP Envy 6055e printer isnt connecting to wifi. When it comes to the stage where I need to press the flashing info button, I press it, and nothing happens and it either times out or says there was an error connecting. I have uninstalled and downloaded HP Smart several times, I have restarted my laptop, the printer, the router and tried a different laptop, and still keep encountering the same issue. It looks like Im not the only one having this issue because I saw a similar post and the answer resolved nothing.... I copy and pasted this question because I'm having the exact same problem, but when HP gave a solution, they said to use the touch screen to fix it, but mine doesn't have one, so I'm unsure how to fix this. Thank you very much!

Hi @brianash1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Envy 6055e is not connecting to Wi-Fi, and pressing the flashing info button doesn’t allow the setup to complete. Let’s go through steps to resolve this without relying on a touchscreen.

Confirm the printer is ready for Wi-Fi setup

Make sure the printer is powered on.

The Wi-Fi light should blink, indicating it is ready to connect.

If the light is off or solid, press and hold the power button for 3–5 seconds to reset network settings.

Use WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) if your router supports it

On your router, press the WPS button.

Within 2 minutes, press and hold the Info button on the printer for 3 seconds until the Wi-Fi light starts blinking.

The printer should automatically connect to the network without the app.

Try manual Wi-Fi setup using HP Smart

On your laptop, open HP Smart and select Add Printer.

Choose Wireless Setup.

When prompted for the flashing info button, press and hold it for at least 3–5 seconds to ensure the printer enters wireless setup mode.

Follow the app instructions to enter your Wi-Fi network and password.

Check Wi-Fi network compatibility

Ensure your router is broadcasting 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The 6055e cannot connect to 5 GHz-only networks.

If possible, temporarily disable the 5 GHz band and try connecting again.

Temporarily disable firewall or security software

Some security software on your laptop can block printer setup.

Disable it temporarily while running HP Smart to complete setup.

Reset the printer network settings

Press and hold Power + Cancel (X) buttons together for 3–5 seconds.

Wait until the printer restarts and the Wi-Fi light blinks.

Try connecting again using HP Smart.

Alternative connection via USB

If Wi-Fi setup continues to fail, connect the printer to the laptop via USB.

Use HP Smart to complete setup, then switch to wireless once the printer is recognized.

I hope this helps.
