Hi @gks11

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating it feels to download the HP Smart replacement app and then get stuck at “checking system requirements,” especially when you’re eager to use the scan feature on your new Lenovo laptop.

You’ve already confirmed printing works, which is a good sign that the basic driver is installed correctly. Let’s focus on getting the HP App working so you can scan smoothly.

1. Check Windows updates

  • On your Lenovo laptop, go to Settings > Windows Update.
  • Install any pending updates, especially optional updates related to drivers and app compatibility.
  • Restart the laptop after updates.

2. Clear Microsoft Store cache

  • Press Windows + R, type wsreset.exe, and press Enter.
  • A blank window will appear, then the Microsoft Store will reopen.
  • This clears cached data that can block app installation.

3. Reinstall the HP App

  • Open the Microsoft Store again.
  • Search for HP App and click Install.
  • If it still hangs, uninstall the partially installed version first: Settings > Apps > Installed Apps > HP App > Uninstall, then retry.

4. Use direct HP download

  • If the Store continues to stall, download the HP App directly from HP: HP App Overview.
  • Install it manually from the downloaded installer.

5. Verify system compatibility

  • The HP App requires Windows 10 version 1809 or later, or Windows 11.
  • Since you’re on Windows 11, ensure your system architecture (ARM or x64) is supported. The HP App runs on both, but older Store cache can misreport compatibility.

6. Add printer and test scan

  • Once installed, open the HP App.
  • Add your printer by selecting Printers > Add Printer.
  • Use the Scan option to confirm functionality.

By refreshing Windows updates, clearing the Store cache, and reinstalling directly from HP if needed, the HP App should install and allow scanning.
