Hello @dawash ,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

I think you should reinstall the printer and install the following software packages.
But first, you need to uninstall all of the printer software,

  1. Uninstall HP printer software, and then remove the printer from your Devices list. 
  2. Restart the PC

Here are the latest software packages you need to install:

  1. HP Smart Tank 5100 EasyStart Printer Setup Software - Offline Use Only 
  2. ReadIRIS Advanced OCR 

The system must be restarted between the two installations!

Document error messages accurately, even better is to take a screenshot of it and upload here.
