Hi @vL32,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 is not recognizing the original HP yellow cartridge after a driver update and is showing a “non-original chip” message, while the other colors are working fine. Let’s go through a few steps to resolve this.

Restart the printer and power cycle
Turn off the printer using the power button and unplug the power cord from the rear.
Wait 60 seconds, reconnect the power cord directly to a wall outlet, and turn the printer back on.

Reseat the affected cartridge
Open the cartridge access door and remove the yellow cartridge.
Reinsert it firmly until it clicks into place, then close the access door.

Clean the cartridge contacts
Remove the yellow cartridge again and gently clean the copper-colored contacts using a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water.
Let the cartridge dry for a few minutes, then reinstall it.

Check for printer firmware updates
Firmware controls cartridge authentication.
From the printer menu or HP Smart app, check and install any available firmware updates.

Disable cartridge protection (if previously enabled)
Open the HP Smart app > Printer Settings > Advanced Settings > Cartridge Protection.
Make sure cartridge protection is turned off, then restart the printer.

Remove and re-add the printer in HP Smart
Open HP Smart, remove the printer, and restart your computer.
Add the printer again to ensure proper driver and firmware communication.

Roll back or reinstall the printer driver
Uninstall the current printer driver from Devices and Printers.
Restart the system and install the full-feature HP driver recommended for your model.

Test the cartridge in another HP printer (if available)
If the same error appears, the cartridge chip itself may be faulty.
If it works in another printer, the issue is likely firmware or driver-related.

I hope this helps.
