I have a Win 7 pc currently conected to my HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 via USB. [The Win 7 pc does not have wifi.]. I'd lie to also use this printer with my Win 11 laptop, after disconnecting the USB cable from the WIn 7 pc and then connectnig to the Win11 laptop. Can I do this? So, would I go ahead first to install the printer on the laptop....??

My question would be if your current computer is connected to a router supplied by your internet provider. If yes, then you really do not need the USB at all. A common misunderstanding is that the WIFI and wired networking are different but the the default configuration of most routers is to have all devices on the network so that wired and wireless devices communicate seamlessly. So if you have your laptop and printer on wireless, your wired ethernet computer will see the printer as well. Or you could share the printer out, the issue there is the laptop only has access when the other computer is on.

Hi....The Win 7 desktop does not have wifi ; therefore, it's always been connected via usb to the printer. The printer therefore is not connected via wifi to my router. My understanding is that the printer can be used by either wifi or usb, not both.
At this point, the vast majority of print needs is using the WIn 7 desktop, with only occasional need to print using the Win 11 laptop. Therefore, if possible, I would like to just disconnect the usb, when need, from the desktop and reconnect to the Win11 laptop. At this time, the Win 11 laptop is not configured at all for the printer.
So...although not totally convenient, can I do this? Can I configure the Win 11 laptop for the OfficeJet Pro 9025 and use it via the usb connection to the printer? Will the printer function ok in this situation?
THanks!
