HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 All-in-One Printer

I cannot get my scanner to connect to my computer. The printer is working. I do not want to scan through the app because I scan multiple pages and it is too slow. Thanks

Hi @TiffH,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're having trouble getting your HP Officejet Pro 8715 scanner to connect to your computer, here are some steps you can try.

Check Connection:

  • Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer via USB or through a network connection, depending on your setup.
  • If you are using a wireless connection, make sure that both the printer and the computer are on the same network.

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off both your computer and the printer.
  • Wait for a few minutes and then turn them back on.
  • Check if the scanner is recognized after the devices have restarted.

Update Drivers:

  • Make sure that you have the latest drivers installed for your HP Officejet Pro 8715. You can download the latest drivers from the official HP website.

Reinstall Software:

  • Uninstall the existing printer/scanner software on your computer.
  • Download the latest software and drivers from the HP website and install them.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Ensure that your operating system is up to date by checking for Windows updates (if you're using Windows) or system updates for other operating systems.

Firewall/Antivirus Settings:

  • Check your firewall or antivirus settings to ensure that they are not blocking the communication between your computer and the scanner.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • HP provides a diagnostic tool called HP Print and Scan Doctor. Download and run this tool to troubleshoot and fix scanning issues.

Verify Default Scanner:

  • Make sure that the HP Officejet Pro 8715 is set as the default scanner on your computer.

Check for Physical Issues:

  • Ensure that there are no physical issues with the scanner, such as paper jams or connection problems.

Remember to consult the printer's user manual or online documentation for additional guidance specific to your model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
