I have a Win 7 pc currently connected to my HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 via USB. [The Win 7 pc does NOT have wifi.]. I'd like to also use this printer with my Win 11 laptop, after disconnecting the USB cable from the WIn 7 pc and then connecting to the Win11 laptop via the USB. Can I do this? So, would I go ahead first to install the printer on the laptop....?? Will the printer function ok if I switch the usb connection between the Win 7 desktop and the Win 11 laptop?

Hi @scoot11.
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Yes, you can connect your HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 to your Windows 11 laptop using the USB cable after disconnecting it from your Windows 7 PC. The printer should function correctly when you switch the USB connection between the two computers. Here are the steps you should follow:
Disconnect from Windows 7 PC: Safely disconnect the USB cable from your Windows 7 PC.
Install Printer Drivers on Windows 11 Laptop: Before you connect the printer to your Windows 11 laptop, download and install the latest printer drivers and software from HP's website. This will ensure compatibility with Windows 11.
- Visit the HP support website.
- Search for your printer model, "HP OfficeJet Pro 9025".
- Download the drivers that are specifically provided for Windows 11.
- Run the installation process.
Connect to Windows 11 Laptop: After the drivers are installed, connect the USB cable from the printer to your Windows 11 laptop. Windows should recognize the printer and complete any additional driver installation automatically.
Set as Default Printer (optional): You might want to set the HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 as the default printer on your laptop. You can do this through the Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers. Right-click on the HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 and choose "Set as default printer."
Print a Test Page: To confirm everything is set up correctly, print a test page. Go to Devices and Printers, right-click on the printer, select Printer properties, and then click on the "Print Test Page" button.
Switching Between Computers: When you need to use the printer with the other computer, simply disconnect the USB cable from one and connect it to the other. Remember, you may need to wait a moment as the computer recognizes the printer each time you reconnect. The printer drivers need to be installed on each computer you intend to use with the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

hi Rachel571,
Thanks for your reply and help.
I did as you suggested. On the Hp site, I downloaded the 'hp smart install' and went thru its steps to install the printer.
I tested at first with MS Word and was able to print a test page. However, today, when I tried to print again, I received an error message that the "printer could not be found". I turned the printer off/on, no different. I used the "HP Smart" app..indicated that the printer is offline. I ran the apps 'diagnosis and fix' routine...."diagnosis complete and no issue found". On the HP site, I downloaded HPPSdr and after some error "extraction failed", this app opened. Received msg " HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 series insalled, USB" App communicated with printer. App supposed to do a 'reset of printer' and power printer off. Did not happen; therefore, returned to previous screen, tried reset again. Printer did not power off. Manually powered off /on. Within the HP Smart app, I printed 2 pages. ok....seems ok, but will let you know if still is ok later..
