i cannot connect my printer (M141a; SN removed) to my Mac or Android (xiaomi), although i already used it before. it's been awhile since i used it last time, but still. Hp apps don't see it, and it's written "connect this printer to use all features". i already restarted it, restarted my devices, but nothing helped.

Hi @RenaRenRena,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Laser M141a printer is not connecting to your Mac or Android device, even though it worked before. Let’s go through a few steps to get it connected and working again.

    a. Check Printer Connection Mode
      • Ensure the printer is powered on.
      • Since M141a is a USB-only model (no Wi-Fi), confirm the printer is directly connected via USB to the device.
      • If using a USB hub or adapter, try connecting directly to the device.

    b. Verify Cable & Ports
      • Use the USB cable that came with the printer or a known working cable.
      • Try different USB ports on your Mac or Android device (if OTG adapter is used for Android).

    c. Install or Reinstall Drivers / HP Smart App
      • On Mac: Go to HP Support website → Drivers & Downloads → M141a → Download and install the latest macOS driver.
      • On Android: Open HP Smart App → Remove the printer (if listed) → Add printer again using USB or Local network connection.

    d. Reset the Printer (Optional)
      • Turn off the printer, unplug it from power for 30 seconds, then plug back in and turn it on.
      • This can refresh the USB interface and clear any communication errors.

    e. Check Device Recognition
      • On Mac: Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners → Check if M141a appears; if not, click + to add it manually.
      • On Android: Make sure USB OTG is supported and your device recognizes the printer under Settings > Connected devices > USB.

    f. Avoid Interference from Other Apps
      • Close other printing or scanning apps that might block the HP Smart app.
      • Disable antivirus/firewall temporarily on Mac if it prevents printer detection.

I hope this helps.
